Prom Guide - PromDressUK

Do's and Don'ts for your Prom Night

The Perfect Night...
Everyone knows how important it is that everything goes perfectly on your prom night. Your ball is your night to express who you are and how you look. We've developed a guide that will have a checklist of tips to help you with your big night.

The Cost
While the cost of proms can vary depending on how much you want to spend, that shouldn't mean you shouldn't look your best on a tight budget. That is why we have made these gorgeous gowns at great prices. When money is stressing you out; just remember this is your night and you should be able to make it special. If you spend more on accessories and shoes than you originally let yourself, don't worry; it's your prom, a once a year event and you should be able to look your best! Planning is key - saving money throughout the year is the best way of being able to treat yourself closer the the prom.

The Dress: £100-£250
Dresses are not cheap, we understand that. But the night only happens once and finding something as individual as yourself is key. The pictures of your prom will live forever and you want to look your best. So, therefore, shop early; save early - look out for a good deal.

Accessories: £50-£150
Accessories too are not cheap; but formulate the perfect look for your prom night. Therefore; see if you can borrow something from parents and friends that suit your look. Jewellery is a beautiful touch to your look; shop around for a bargain that will go perfectly. It will really add a touch of class. Decide whether you will need a headpiece, earrings and necklace early so you can begin saving.

Transport: £5-£100
If you're not getting a lift from friends or family, travelling in limosine is often a nice idea. Try and collectively bargain to get a good deal on a limo; this will lower costs for each person and adds a great touch for your arrival at the venue. However, if you prefer to spend your money on your dress and other accessories, try and share lifts with friends!

Tickets: £30-£100
Sometimes they sell out - so get them early! Always listen for dates of release; this way you won't miss out on your big event. Tickets pay for everything from meal, DJ and venue, so expect a pricey evening, so expect to pay a large price. It may seem expensive; but the price makes sense! If your ticket does not include a meal; remember to bring extra money or alternative reservations for dinner.

Makeup: £10-£50
Makeup really adds an elegant touch to the look! Try visiting a department store's cosmetics counters for advice and ideas with what will go well with your dress. These consultations are often free. Makeup is a very personal touch; so always find makeup that matches your style. Shop around for the best prices on makeup, and always take some to the actual event just incase you need to reapply. After your consultation, take a picture so you can recreate the perfect look on your ball evening. Try and use your existing makeup if you wish to cutback on expenditure.

Nails: £10-£20
For those who want to make a little extra effort, visiting a nail technician is a great idea. Getting your nails done is relatively inexpensive and last for longer than the ball. If you get your nails done closer to the event, they look more fresh. It is important not to forget the matching pedicure!

Photos: £10-£30
Take a digital camera if you have one, they fit cosily into your handbag and will allow you to take pictures throughout the night. You'll never forget anything with your pictures! Sometimes professional packages are available at expensive prices at a ball, but they are worth the money if you are willing to spend it. However, a disposable camera does the trick too. Remember pictures are there to look back on another day, so don't forget!

Shoes: £30-£200
Finally, but possibly most importantly - find your perfect shoes! Whether you want them to match by colour or style, shoes are the absolute finishing touch to an outfit. You can treat yourself from a wide range as shoe prices vary very much; but as long as you find the perfect shoe, it shouldn't matter. Match shoes by colour, style and taste. Shop around; shoes are often bought before some buy their prom dress! It is important to know what dress you have first; so make sure you don't do this!
